Honda Manufacturing Receives Energy Star

Honda Motor Energy Star Award Honda has long been known as a leader in producing environmentally friendly products, thanks to its full range of fuel-efficient, hybrid vehicles. But its products are the only thing that makes Honda a green company. Honda’s manufacturing facilities in Ohio and Alabama have just received Energy Star awards from the Environmental Protection Agency for their ability to reduce energy consumption.

The Honda plants in Ohio and Alabama produce a number of passenger cars and light trucks. These facilities have successful reduced CO2 emissions per vehicle, reaching the lowest levels since Honda began measuring emissions in 2001. San Francisco Honda Dealers point out that these plants are crucial for producing many popular vehicles such as the Honda Accord and Honda CR-V, as well as the Acura TL and RDX.

Improving energy efficiency is one of the biggest objectives for Honda according to one Pittsburgh Honda dealer. Automobile production requires a significantly amount of energy, but these plants have successfully been able to reduce this harmful consumption year after year. This has been achieved by reducing electricity of plastic injection molding machinery, as well as from curbing carbon dioxide by about 80,000 lbs. per year at the Marysville based plant. The Easy Liberty plant has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by about 508,000 lbs. per year. As the greenest Honda dealership five years running, Carson Honda dealer is prod that Honda is a company that takes corporate responsibility a priority.

Among the ways Honda Manufacturing proactively tried to cut wasted energy was to monitor energy use between shifts and during breaks, ensuring machines were turned off when not in use. There is also an intelligent paint booth technology that controls temperature and humidity within the painting facility to further curb CO2. Lastly, Honda facilities are based here in the U.S., which also cuts travel time and additional waste when transporting products to customers in North America.
